About me
I am a psychotherapist registered by Valvira. My background is in Art education (MoA) and Art psychotherapy (MSc). Through supplementary training, I have specialised in psychophysical psychotherapy, also known as body psychotherapy.
I have worked as an art therapist since 2011 and as a psychotherapist since 2018. Just over a year ago, I moved my practice from KKT-keskus Arvo Helsinki to a private office in Porvoo.
I have experience especially in working with issues related to anxiety, burnout, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and depression. My work history also includes individual and group-based work with child welfare clients, individuals exposed to sexual violence, and those diagnosed with cancer.
Image making has always been a natural way for me to understand my own experiences and the world around me. Also, yoga/meditation has been an essential part of my life for more than 25 years. Before I studied to become a healthcare professional I worked as a teacher in visual arts, a yoga instructor and a freelance journalist and lived in three different countries.
As a psychotherapist I aim to be open and present. Apart from the words said, I try to pay close attention to non-verbal communications, such as bodily gestures. In my work I use evidence and science based treatment methods about which I get to learn more through attending further trainings and seminars.
During the sessions I do my best to create a safe and contemplative atmosphere and focus on the unique shared moment. I find it crucial that the therapeutic work has clearly defined aims and is done with compassion.
